Some Good Oil News 4a change!

As I write this (not me, someone at HSI), the price of oil is closing in on another record - nearly $113 a barrel. But imagine being able to extract it... for just $16.

Any company that could do that would stand to make a fortune... not just for itself, but also for its shareholders.

Well, in Richland County, Montana - about 470 miles outside the state capitol of Helena - that's exactly what's occurring.

To get right to the point...

It's the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska's Prudhoe Bay and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable... at $107 a barrel, Montana is looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion.

* "This sizeable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found in the past 56 years," reports The Pittsburgh Post Gazette. It's a formation known as the Williston Basin, but is more commonly referred to as the "Bakken." And it stretches from Northern Montana, through North Dakota and into Canada.

For years, U.S. oil exploration has been considered a dead end. Even the "Big Oil" companies gave up searching for major oil wells decades ago. However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the Bakken's massive reserves... and we now have access of up to 500 billion barrels.

And because this is light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL!

(image)

That's enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 41 years straight.

To America, this discovery couldn't have come at a better time. You see, when all the wells are finally drilled and pumping, we won't have to import any foreign oil from the Middle East. Not a single drop!

For investors... it offers a "once-in-a-lifetime" chance to profit on ever-rising demand for oil. And we can do it by getting in on the groundfloor of the next great oil boom... (who has land there is in luck!/kmy)

Even the US Government has confirmed the Bakken as a huge oil formation. The government's own Energy Information Administration (EIA) issued this press release:

"...with new drilling and completion technology taken into account, the resource base for the entire formation is potentially much larger. A study provides estimates ranging up to 503 billion barrels of potential resources in place."

Oil in the Bakken isn't gritty, dirty and expensive like the Alberta oil sands.

We're talking light, sweet crude oil - the least expensive and easiest to refine oil out there.

And here's the kicker...
(image)

Montana lawmakers recently passed a bill that creates an 18-month tax holiday for oil wells drilled and completed in this area.

This legislation has caused a massive increase in exploration and has blown the top off this hidden ocean of oil.

Since this bill was passed, a small group of investors have been taking advantage of this untapped resource and are making thousands of dollars each month.

...I have uncovered three companies that are drilling in the Bakken right now and are seeing returns and revenues second to none...

"It's a good, old fashioned oil boom," says Dr. Paul Polzin, a University of Montana economist.

One company has been there since the beginning of the Bakken boom... and is already selling its oil to the market. And the best part about it - this company is sharing its Bakken profits with everyday investors.

...The other 2 Bakken companies I've uncovered are true "wildcatter" plays... with the potential to return investors 100-to-1 on their money. ...

Amazingly, this monumental oil discovery - and these 3 companies - have remained a secret...

* "People in the region 'are just starting to see the potential' in this new oil play" - Grand Forks Herald, Nov. 4, 2007

And for the shareholders of oil companies that make huge, new discoveries, the potential payoff is mind-blowing.

There are several companies that have seen similar situations to the Bakken - of course on a far smaller scale - and have rallied hundreds of percent in just a few months. If these companies can see their stock prices increase by 300%, 400% or even 500% with oil discoveries of 1 or 2 billion barrels... just imagine what a discovery of up to 500 billion barrel of oil would do to a stock's price!

Here are a few examples...

Bankers Petroleum is a company based in the Patos-Marinz Oil Field in Albania. Upon discovery of its 1.96 billion barrels (1/250th of the potential of the Bakken Basin) the company's stock price increased 468% in just 7 months!

Then there's Petrominerals, a company whose primary drilling area is in the Llanos Basin in Colombia, South America. When uncovering a 1 billion barrel potential (1/500th of the potential of the Bakken Basin), this stock jumped 775% in just 10 months!

(image)

Lastly, there's the example of BPZ Resources, a Peruvian company that has concentrated on two main oil fields: The Corvina and Albacora Formations. Recently, it was reported that the Corvina Field holds reserves of 60 million barrels and that the Albacora field hold reserve of roughly 500 million barrels (1/1000th of the Bakken Basin Potential) and the stock price rocketed 449% in just 8 months!

A few years ago, a Billings petroleum geologist by the name of Dick Findley was working out of his basement - searching for oil in an area that had been barren for over 20 years. Things were rough and he was struggling to get by.

He even flirted with the idea of getting a second job as a restaurant cook. On a diet of nothing but Ramen noodles and hard-boiled eggs - how could you blame the guy?
"The boom has been so big the pipeline carrying Montana and North Dakota crude to Midwestern markets is at capacity and the largest company drilling in Elm Coulee has temporarily closed some wells because they have no way to sell it." - The Montana Standard

But one thing kept Dick going - an unprecedented suspicion that this area, known as the Bakken Basin, contained more oil than Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Iran combined.

The Bakken Basin, located in Montana, North Dakota and Saskatchewan - was at one point coined "one of the largest disappointments in the oil industry."

During this period, technology lacked the efficiency to make drilling worthwhile. And when oil hit all time lows in the late 90's - the Bakken Basin was basically abandoned.

But Findley kept digging around.

And through sheer luck, he and his partner stumbled upon a porous layer of dolomite, 9000 feet below the ground of a ranch just outside Sidney, Montana.

This stumble turned out to be the largest on-shore oil discovery in decades.

Little did he know, but Findley discovered enough oil to fuel the U.S. for 41 years.

And the oil field he found - and the technology that he helped develop to extract the oil - has recently made millionaires out of ordinary Montanans...

"It was a light bulb kind of thought - When I discovered that the oil was in the middle shale and it continued for 50 miles, I called my partner and I said, 'I think you'd better sit down...we found a giant oil field," says Findley of his initial discovery.

Findley soon took his discovery to energy giant Haliburton, which backed him financially and provided the support to help him develop the necessary drilling technology to efficiently take advantage of this huge oil discovery...

The Technology That Makes It All Possible

It's true that the oil industry has known about the Bakken Basin for over 20 years - but the problem always was that no one knew how to get at the oil. The technology just wasn't there. Until now...

But even today, the exact science behind getting the Bakken oil is still somewhat of a secret.

I mean, think about it for a minute...

Imagine you found a massive, but trapped gold mine in your neighborhood. Now imagine you created a technology to mine it - a technology unique to this specific gold mine.

Would you tell anyone how to do it? Would you reveal your secret?
"Could increase U.S reserves by 10 times..."- American Digest

No, of course not....before everybody else found out about it.

...that's exactly what's going on with the Bakken Basin.

"It's too early in the play to be sharing information," says Bill Walker, a Denver-based geologist with Headington Co.

Bill says his company has recently developed the technology to drill the Bakken down effectively - and it's one of the company's closest guarded secrets.

Even though the technology I'm talking about is rather well known, actually using it successfully is the big secret.

The technology is called Horizontal Directional Drilling or H.D.D., and only a few companies have mastered the process.

How Does Horizontal Directional Drilling Work?

Getting oil out of the Bakken is not a matter of poking a hole in the ground until you hit a soft spot full of oil - which is the old vertical drilling technique.

The Bakken is woven with rocks, and that rock-layer is wide but very thin. Thin enough that vertical drilling is horribly unsuccessful.

It was Findley's idea to drill a well sideways - a technique called "horizontal directional drilling," in which wildcatters drill down to the oil and then kick out their well thousands of feet to the left or right.

Sort of like an underground sprinkler. Here is what it looks like:

(image)/(image)

But horizontal drilling alone isn't enough to get the oil out of the ground.

Findley had to work with Haliburton engineers to figure out a way to both drill sideways and fracture the rock to release the oil.
"The Bakken is so prolific... one of the top onshore fields found in the past half-century." - Financial Post

Both horizontal drilling and fracturing had been done before, but never together. This was Findley's revolutionary idea.

These combined technologies made drilling the Bakken Basin possible and extremely profitable.

In fact, the technique is so efficient that companies - like the ones I will tell you about below - are extracting oil from the Bakken at an amazing cost of just $16 a barrel!

And with oil now over a $100 a barrel - the companies below are making a killing

..."Staggering 503 billion barrels total recoverable and non-recoverable..."- Popular Mechanics

They are gobbling up land in this precious region with fervor second to none.

By combining experienced management, low overhead and aggressive acreage acquisition, this company is one of the nation's fastest growing small-cap gas and oil exploration and production companies. "We are excited to announce the expansion of our [Bakken] acreage position," said the Chief Executive Officer. "Our position in this productive resource play is well situated among acreage held by leading Bakken exploration companies. Assuming full development of our [Bakken] leasehold on 640-acre drilling units, [our] acreage would result in approximately twenty-five net wells."

With the newly acquired acreage, this company is poised for profit over the next couple month

(AND SO FORTH, I SUPPOSE YOU GET THE IDEA... when the news is finally published and folks start getting to use this oil, it could change history! So I published this here for you, because it is really big news!/kmy)

Happy Breathing!

Happy Breathing!

Mike quit smoking only after he started using my Method: When my girlfriend was in the hospital, they gave her a potassium drip in her "IV", so she would not suffer from nicotine withdrawal. Well, potassium is easy to find in food, far easier than in pills.

And Vitamin C is great for eliminating toxins from the blood, such as nicotine. SO...

I gave him a banana which is loaded with potassium, and orange juice also loaded with potassium, to start the day: with plenty of vitamin C. Whenever he got a nicotine fit, when he was quitting, I gave him a banana (and some dates sometimes/also loaded with potassium), and 2,000 mgs. of Vitamin C (in 1,000 capsules -"Now Brand" has a good one, but you can get alot cheaper Ascorbic Acid-C, in 1000 mg caps, at Swansons.com).

Every time he had a "fit", he got a banana and 2k of Vit C.
It WORKED! Relieved him of the nicotine fit, every time. Of course you can use other fruits, like watermelon I suppose, or papaya, or pineapple, or dates/raisins/plums/grapes, but bananas are most convenient and very high in potassium. I suppose you could find a list of high potassium fruits and vegies on the Internet, will post one after I find it!

Lemon Juice is good too, but the REFINED sugar in it is NOT good and directly causes Metabolic Syndrome. REFINED Sugar is not good, generally. We can get away with some, but it permeates American foodstuffs, and we have to be very careful to avoid foodstuffs laden with the poison. Natural sugars like fruit sugars/date sugar/raw honey, are ok, I don't get upset about them, still, one has to be careful to not overload our PANCREAS on a daily basis, so we can avoid Diabetes: which is a condition where the pancreas has been overloaded with sugars for many years and contributes to Heart Failure. (Smuckers has NO SUGAR jams with FRUIT ONLY!/yum!) Even worse than refined sugar, is the frighteningly dangerous HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, deadly as they come, if you have this routinely in your diet, look forward to Metabolic Syndrome: Heart Disease and Diabetes.

Also, we need to start reading labels and eliminate everything that has what is called "HYDROGENATED FATS" which are better known nowadays as "TRANS FATS," as deadly as any heat treated salad oil. The book, How to Fight Cancer and Win (Agora books/online!) tells all about heat and chemical treated salad and cooking oils: a Nobel Laureate, Joanna Budwig, who invented the electron microscope which revolutionized BIO-SCIENCE research, is well known in Europe for her crusade against the salad oil industry (really BIG Great Guild!), has researched that topic to death and has saved thousands from imminant death from Cancer and Heart Disease, because of her research and assistance!

Routine Sugar Overload over the years seems to be the Culprit in almost all cases of Diabetes, besides the many forms of Heart Disease, one can't avoid "Insulin Resistance" and Diabetes (also, coupled with the other sinister substances such as salad oil, over the years, Heart Diseases are unavoidable). Alcoholic drinks or alcoholic laden substances such as mouthwash/makeup cleaners, what have we, are all toxic: alcohol turns to sugar in the Liver, and overwhelms the Pancreas with Overwork, and causes what is called "insulin resistance" which leads directly to Diabetes and Heart Diseases/High blood pressure, etc etc etc. Recipe for ill health, drink all the booze you want! but of them all, beer is the most sinister, being CARBONATED, and because it seems so innocuous.

Happily, CAYENNE pepper (NOW brand has a good one, very strong; plus it has a cayenne/garlic, too, great for the liver, great for parasites too, they hate it and vinegar) is known now, to actually help a damaged Pancreas restore itself. Unheard in mainstream medicine, always try to routinely include Cayenne capsules in your dinner meals, or with fruit salads/cinnamon! You can get "CapsiCool" from Nature's Best, that is not as "hot," too!

It is best, if one wants to quit smoking entirely, forever, to always have a high potassium diet, this means bananas and orange juice daily more or less, or other high potassium fruits and fruit salads; and lots of fruits and vegetables. I will list my Chile Elote soup here later! Ideally it is nice to start the day with a fruit salad, with a little RAW honey and CINNAMON! Cinnamon keeps the blood sugar from "spiking!" So does Vinegar, curtail blood sugar "spiking"! Vinegar is useful for other things too, like keeping the body in a proper Acid Alkaline balance, essential for health (again, read Sang Whang's little twelve dollar book). It is always necessary even, to use vinegar in your raw vegie salads, as it inhibits ecoli and other bad bugs that sometimes collect on salad greens/ lettuce/ spinach/etc., from making you sick, as they cannot survive in vinegar. I always eat a pickle and/or lemon, with fish, for the same reason.

WARNING
: whoever already has CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE and is on Pharmacutical Diuretics, one has to be careful about potassium, as it can overwhelm the kidneys and kill you (can't find my source material on this/will post if I find it!).

NEXT: if you have been smoking for years, you are going to need somewhat of a Hygenics Overhaul and plenty of Vitamin C to purify the blood and tissues: Smoking and drinking Colas or Beer, anything that is "carbonated" (fizzie drinks), and routinely using cooking or salad oil, you probably have what is not being called "Metabolic Syndrome" which is a combo of Heart Diseases of various sorts/with Diabetes or pre-diabetic condition. We all have it. I got it by using heat treated salad oils, and drinking yummie root beers for several years. The damage is severe, with fizzie drinks and cook/salad oils. Who would expect THAT? not even me. (to read about fizzy drinks: read up on...

Sang Whang's "Reverse Aging"/www.alkalife.com (JSP Publishing/8888 S>W> 129th Terrace/Miami Florida-33176-5945//toll free: 1-888-261-0870)

So, I quit all fizzie drinks, and don't even smoke a roach anymore (eat it!!!, works better!), at least. To get rid of Metabolic Syndrome, and clear out our lungs, we need to take alot of Vitamin C, get plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables (raw!) and follow a "Hygenics" lifestyle. It's a LIFESTYLE! for the rest of our life. It's fun to learn and share, so don't fret, help is on the way!

I started long ago by reading Adelle Davis' book, "Lets Eat Right to Keep Fit", full of great advice, tho not entirely accurate and is rather dated. Still, most of what she said holds true even today in the face of superior laboratory and direct observation (tests over the years), especially that about Vitamin C (even to cure Pneumonia which pneumonia-bug can and will lead to Congestive Heart Failure if you have heart disease already (and maybe if you don't, too, the articles didn't mention THAT). I also read everything I could by Dr. Herbert Shelton of San Antonio Texas who actually was a great scientist/Dr. of Naturopathy, but rather unknown nowadays; and wound up lastly, with Sang Whang's book Reverse Aging, mentioned above. As this topic is extensive, so I started a Hygenics/Naturopathy group at Myspace, which has alot of information already, which there is no room here to post. Just look for it under Groups (I am StarNet/at Myspace). I gotta go, will post more later: have to get my files organized.

Happy Breathing!

(from my Health Sciences Institute newsletter:) Dear Reader,

Whenever I read about any condition that causes irregular breathing, I find myself taking a reflexive deep breath, almost as if my body is trying to reassure my brain that everything is okay.

That's what happened when I came across news of a recent study that shows how important it is for newly diagnosed COPD patients to begin rehabilitation as soon as possible. In an eight-week trial, researchers demonstrated that even when lungs are severely obstructed, timely rehabilitation could yield significant results.

COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) is an umbrella term that refers to asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, or any combination of the three. The World Health Organization reports that almost three million people die of COPD related complications each year.

In addition to taking some basic steps to maintain healthy lung function (such as avoiding smoking and getting regular exercise), a dietary restriction might help protect those who are at risk of developing COPD.

--------------------------------------------
Mystery meat
--------------------------------------------

Previous studies indicate that the type of lung damage that leads to emphysema may be triggered in part by nitrites, which are added to cured meats such as hotdogs, ham, and processed lunchmeats. Researchers at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City conducted a cross-sectional study to determine if nitrites intake might be associated with COPD risk. (kmy note: I read somewhere in one of my health newsletters that Leukemia is caused by HOT DOGS, here, probably because of the nitrates--now Vit.C escorts toxins out of the blood into the urine, so, it stands to reason the more C you take, the more toxins you will excrete/no source material on that, YET!)

The Columbia team studied dietary and health records of more than 7,300 subjects who participated in the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The average age of the subjects was 64. Analysis showed that frequent consumption of cured meats (14 or more servings per month) was linked with "an obstructive pattern of lung function and increased odds of COPD."

This study doesn't supply enough evidence to conclude that cured meat intake is a direct cause of COPD because the researchers also found that subjects who frequently ate cured meats were also prone to have a lower intake of fruits, vegetables, fish, vitamin C, and vitamin and mineral supplements. But even when researchers made adjustments for these and other factors (such as smoking – a major cause of COPD), the link between cured meat intake and COPD was still strong.

A spokesperson for the American Meat Institute told Reuters Health that nitrite levels in cured meats have declined in recent years.

--------------------------------------------
Sandwich with a side of C
--------------------------------------------

The Columbia study also found that the subjects who consumed the most cured meats tended to be male cigarette smokers of lower socioeconomic status. (I say because lower socioeconomic status is more stressful than higher status/kmy)

But that doesn't mean that non-smoking, successful professional women are free of risk. I have a friend who meets that description, and she admits that nearly every day she wolfs down a turkey sandwich at her desk as she continues to work. So she would easily qualify in that 14-or-more servings per month group.

But besides being smoke-free, here's the factor will probably help keep her safe from nitrite-induced COPD: The rest of her diet, combined with her supplement regimen, provides an ample intake of vitamin C.

In the e-alert "C-ing Stars" (6/12/02) I told you about a UK study that investigated the relationship between lung function and the intake of magnesium, and vitamins C, E, and A. The UK team surveyed more than 2,500 subjects to assess the relationship between diet, asthma and COPD. Nine years later, approximately one half of the original group participated in a follow-up survey, as well as tests that determined breathing levels.

After analyzing the data, researchers reached two important conclusions:
1) Subjects who consumed higher amounts of vitamin C had better lung function than those with lower levels of vitamin C intake
2) Higher amounts of vitamin C and magnesium intake were associated with significantly improved lung function in subjects suffering from asthma or COPD

The researchers didn't offer a recommendation about the dosage level of vitamin C required to reap the protective benefits, but the study indicates that the average participant in the survey was not supplementing with mega-doses. (Linus Pauling suggests starting at six thousand milligrams of vitamin C/kmy)

Start Stockpiling your Incandescent Lightbulbs!

BUMMER!

Dear Reader,

Light bulb manufacturers have convinced environmentalists and lawmakers that the compact fluorescent light (CFL) is more energy efficient than the incandescent.

Okay. No problem. When you go to buy a new light bulb, if you care to spend the extra money (CFLs cost about six times as much as incandescents), you might feel good about helping the environment. Nothing wrong with that. Enjoy.

Problem is, those light bulb makers have quietly mounted a very successful campaign to MAKE you buy their new bulbs. No choice. Their new bulb is your new bulb.

This past December, President Bush signed an energy bill that will make it illegal to manufacture or sell incandescent light bulbs as of 2014. So if you prefer incandescent light, too bad for you. Within a decade, every home in the U.S., including yours, will be lit with little glowing swirls of mercury.

--------------------------------------------
Mercury rising
--------------------------------------------

In the e-Alert "A Modest Proposal" (2/6/08), I told you about the Environmental Protection Agency's tips on how to clean up after a broken CFL. Tip number one suggests you open a window and leave the room for 15 minutes to reduce exposure to mercury.

And why don't you want to be exposed to mercury? Because it's a neurotoxin. What a fantastic idea! Let's fill fragile tubes with a neurotoxin and place them all over the house!

Another tip suggests that when broken CFL debris is on the carpet, you should pick up fragments and powder with sticky tape before vacuuming. But an HSI member named Ed spotted a problem here. Ed writes: "If you vacuum the mercury you will blow the mercury around the room through exhaust of the vacuum cleaner."

Good point, Ed. So to the EPA's tips we can add this one: If you break a CFL in a carpeted area, roll up the carpet, put it on your front lawn, and call the EPA to come take it away.

Environmentalists claim that filling our homes with CFLs will actually lower our exposure to mercury. Here's how the logic goes: About half the electricity in the U.S. is supplied by burning coal, which emits mercury into the atmosphere. But CFLs are energy efficient, so less coal will be burned, and less mercury will waft on the breeze.

And that would be a strong pro-CFL argument if we only used electricity to light our lamps. I don't about you, but at my house the refrigerator, the televisions, the computers, the central air, the microwave and dozens of other appliances all run on electricity. I've got a hunch that most of that burning coal is going to keep right on burning.

--------------------------------------------
Green to partly green
--------------------------------------------

When an HSI member named John read "A Modest Proposal," a CFL went on over his head and he wrote with this question: "Does the danger also exist in the long ones in use for years?"

By "long ones," of course, John is referring to fluorescent tube lighting that many of us already use in our homes. And the answer is yes – the long ones contain mercury and are dangerous when broken. In fact, they're even dangerous when they're not broken in the home. If they're not carefully recycled, they end up breaking in landfills and the mercury may become airborne or migrate into water supplies. According to a U.S. Navy web site, fluorescent tubes in landfills create the second largest source of mercury pollution. You have to imagine that CFLs will only contribute to the problem.

But no, no, no – that won't happen at all, according to environmentalists. Because CFLs will be recycled. See? Problem solved!

Or that's what will happen in some imaginary perfect green world. Meanwhile, back here on earth, who's kidding who? Millions of burned out CFLs will go straight into the trash.

--------------------------------------------
Where's there's smoke…no fire?
--------------------------------------------

Out of curiosity I recently purchased a CFL, and was astonished to read this note included in the packaging: "May cause interference to radios, televisions, wireless telephones, and remote controls. Avoid placing this product near these devices."

You've got to be kidding. In our increasingly wireless society, this is going to be the only type of light bulb we can buy? And in rooms where I have a television, I may have to decide between TV or light? Who in the world came up with this insane plan? And even worse – who decided to FORCE it on us?

But wireless interference is just one of the annoying little problems with CFLs…
CFLs don't work well (or sometimes at all) in very cold weather, so operation of porch lights and outdoor security lights in northern states may be erratic in wintertime
If a CFL is turned on and off frequently, its energy efficiency drops and its highly-touted life expectancy decreases
Most CFLs can't be used with dimmer switches or timers
CFLs won't fit in many existing lighting fixtures
CFLs may smoke or smolder, but don't worry – we're assured they won't catch fire
Energy Star – a government program that encourages energy conservation – offers this hilarious procedure to follow when a CFL fills a room with smoke:

"If you have a product that does begin to smoke or smolder, immediately shut off the power to the CFL and, once it has cooled, remove it from the light socket. Then, send us e-mail…to alert us of this incident. Please include the product manufacturer's name and model information that is included on the CFL base and if possible an electronic photo. Also please tell us how the CFL was used – open or enclosed light fixture; indoors or outdoors; base orientation – up, down or sideways. Then visit the manufacturer's web site to find customer service contact information to inform them of the early failure."

When a CFL in my home starts smoking I'm going to get rid of the foul thing. I'm not going to send Energy Star an e-mail, and I'm not going to tell them how I was using it, and I'm not going to visit the manufacturer's web site.

But then maybe someone is busy right now writing a law that will force me to do those things.
